Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Soak the bread in lukewarm water. Rinse the tomatoes, cut into wedges and remove seeds. Rinse the peppers, cut into quarters, remove the seeds and cut into strips. Peel the onions and cut into rings. Peel and finely chop the garlic. Mix the ground meat with bread, garlic, eggs and spices. Knead and season with salt and pepper.

Heat the oil in a pan. Saute the onion, pepper and tomato briefly, Season with salt and pepper. Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil. Shape the meat into a long loaf, flatten slightly and press lengthwise into a slight depression. Cut the mozzarella into slices and distribute decoratively with the vegetable mixture on top. Cook for 40-45 minutes.

Rinse the basil and pluck off the leaves. Cut the meatloaf into pieces and sprinkle with basil before serving.
