1 thin Knitting needle
Possibly
Paper stencil (Star shape)
Twine

Preparation steps

1.

Place star pattern on lemon and punch a small hole around pattern edges with knitting needle. In each hole place a clove until holes are filled with cloves and punch a small hole in the center of star and place a clove in hole.

Or, draw star pattern by hand, if desired. 

3.

Hold lemon with thumb and forefinger at ends of lemon. Use knitting needle to punch a line between stars from stem to end, punching holes every 0.5-0.75 cm (approximately 1/4 inch) and fill holes with cloves.

Repeat lines around lemon and fill with cloves. 

5.

Punch holes at both ends of lemon and fill with cloves, about 0.5 cm (approximately 1/4 inch) around edges and decorate as desired. String twine to hang lemon, if desired.
