Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F) top and bottom heat.

Peel the ginger. Beat the butter with the sugar and egg in a bowl, grate the ginger and add to the mixture.

Beat with an electric hand mixer until fluffy. Sift together the flour with the baking powder and cocoa and stir into the butter mixture. Mix in the chocolate chips.

Drop the dough by tablespoons onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving enough space between each.
