Preparation steps

1.

For the meatballs: Soak the roll in a bowl of water.

For the tomato towers: Rinse the tomatoes, core and cut into 0.5 cm (approximately 1/8 inch) thin slices. Peel and slice the onions. Drain the mozzarella and cut into slices. Layer 3 tomato slices with a slice of onion and mozzarella, finishing with the mozzarella.

2.

Place each tomato tower on a piece of aluminum foil. Season with salt and pepper to taste, sprinkle with oregano leaves and drizzle with olive oil. Enclose the package tightly.

For the meatballs: Squeeze the excess moisture from the roll. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the roll, egg and mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3.

Divide the meat into 70 gram (approximately 1/4 cup) portions and shape into long meatballs about 2 cm (approximately 3/4 inch) in diameter.

For cooking: Place the meatballs and tomato packages on the grill and cook, turning, for 15-20 minutes.

For serving: Open the packages with the tomato towers and serve with the meatballs.
