Healthy, because

Even smarter

Garlic not only captivates with its "beguiling" scent, but can also score health points with the essential oil allicin responsible for it: It keeps the cardiovascular system fit and can positively influence the intestinal flora.

You can serve the garlic breadsticks with normal butter or homemade herb butter.

Preparation steps

1.

Bring all ingredients to room temperature.

2.

Crumble yeast in a bowl and mix with about 600 ml (approximately 20 ounces) of lukewarm water. Add 80 ml (approximately 3 ounces) oil and honey, mix until yeast has dissolved and season with salt. Pour flour into a bowl and create a well in the center. Pour yeast mixture into the well and knead into a firm dough. Place bread dough on a floured work surface and knead until dough is smooth. If needed add more flour so dough is no longer sticky. Place bread dough in a bowl, cover and let rest for about 45 minutes in a warm place.

3.

Peel garlic and chop finely. Rinse rosemary, shake dry, pluck and finely chop. Mix garlic in a bowl with rosemary and 4 tablespoons olive oil.

4.

Preheat the oven to 220°C (approximately 425°F).

5.

Knead bread dough on a floured work surface and cut into quarters. Shape each portion into a long strand and press slightly flat. Brush each breadstick with garlic oil. Place breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with remaining oil and sprinkle with cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
