- 8 Tbsps all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
- ⅔ cup cold beer
- 2 large, spanish onions (cut into rings)

Preparation steps
1.
Place the oil in a large, deep pan and heat until a cube of bread floats to the surface and sizzles.
2.
Meanwhile, season the plain flour with salt and pepper. Mix together the self-raising flour and beer to make the batter and season with a little salt.
3.
Dredge the onion rings in the plain flour, shaking off the excess, then dip them in the batter and fry in the oil until golden brown. You will have to do this in batches.
4.
Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately.
