Preparation steps

Rinse the elderberries, pat dry, and place in a wide-necked vessel. Rinse the lemon under hot water, pat dry, and finely grate some zest. Add the zest, and the sugar to the elderberries, then top with the vodka. Seal well, and place the container in a cool, dark place for 6 weeks. Shake the contents of the container occasionally.

Pass the liqueur through a fine strainer into a carafe or bottles.
