Preparation steps

1.

For the brownies: Chop the chocolate coarsely, melt over a water bath and let cool slightly. Beat the margarine until creamy then stir in the chocolate, sugar and vanilla sugar. Gradually add the eggs, 1 at a time, stirring until combined between additions. Fold in the flour then press into the base of a greased baking sheet (40 x 39 cm) (approximately 16 x 15 inches).

2.

Wrap the baking sheet with foil around the edges to prevent any spillage and bake in a preheated oven (180°C) (approximately 350°F) for 25 minutes.

3.

Remove from the oven and poke repeatedly with a wooden stick. Brush the coffee over the brownies to soak then let cool.

4.

For the glaze: Stir the powdered sugar, coffee powder and some water until smooth and pourable. Place in a piping bag and pipe over the brownies. Cut into 4 x 6 cm (approximately 2 x 1 1/2 inch) pieces to serve.
