Dark chocolate has a high cocoa content - it contains many antioxidants that keep the heart and circulation healthy. The wholemeal flour provides the dietary fibres that are important for good digestion and the butter convinces with the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.
If you like, refine the homemade chocolate cakes with coarsely chopped walnuts, hazelnuts or cherries. Grated coconut also makes a good topping or stirred directly into the dough.
