Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

2.

Cut the garlic in half and rub the flat gratin dish with it. Brush with butter.

3.

Peel and rinse the potatoes and place in cold water. Whisk the cream with salt, pepper and nutmeg vigorously. Thinly slice the potatoes with a vegetable slicer and carefully layer them into the dish. Pour the cream over the potatoes so that the top layer is only barely covered.

4.

Bake in the oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes. If the potatoes brown too much, cover with aluminum foil.

5.

Portion as desired with a cookie cutter and serve.
