Preparation steps

1.

Crumble the yeast into a bowl and dissolve with 2 tablespoons of warm water. Mix with 2 tablespoons of flour, cover and leave to rest for about 30 minutes.

Pile the remaining flour on a work surface and make a well in the middle. Pour in the yeast along with the salt, the oil and 250 ml of lukewarm water (approximately 1 cup). Bring together and knead thoroughly into a smooth dough. Add a little extra water or flour if necessary.

Place the dough into a bowl and leave to rise for about 1 hour in a warm place, until the volume has doubled.

2.

Knead on a floured surface, divide into 12 pieces and shape each into a roll. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space in between. Cover with a kitchen towel and leave to rise for another 30 minutes.

3.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400ºF).

Brush the rolls with some lukewarm water and shower with caraway seeds. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.

Allow to cool before serving.
