2 Tbsps vegetable oil
1 egg
400 grams mixed Ground meat
breadcrumbs (as needed)

2 red and green Jalapeño
80 grams grated Cheddar cheese

Preparation steps

1.

Peel and finely chop the shallot. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a skillet. Cook the shallot until translucent. Cool slightly. Mix the shallot with the egg and ground meat in a bowl. Stir in enough breadcrumbs so the meat is easy to shape. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Shape the meat mixture into 4 patties.

Heat the remaining oil in a skillet. Cook the patties until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Preheat the oven broiler.

Rinse the jalapeños, halve, remove seeds and finely chop. Stir with the cheddar cheese in a bowl. Divide the cheese mixture between the patties. Place under the broiler until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.

Arrange on plates and serve with potato wedges if desired.
