- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsps ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp grated Nutmeg
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 ¼ cups medium Oatmeal
- ½ cup black Molasses (molasses)
- ⅔ cup butter
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ⅔ cup milk
- 1 egg

Preparation steps
1.
Heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Grease and line an 18 cm|7" deep square tin with non-stick baking paper.

Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl, then stir in the oatmeal.

Melt the treacle, butter, sugar and milk together in a pan over a low heat and cool to lukewarm. Beat in the egg until blended.
4.
Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and beat well until smooth. Pour into the tin and bake for 1 hour. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Store wrapped, in an airtight tin for at least 2 days before cutting.
