Nutritional values

This apple pie is quick and easy to prepare if you are ever surprised by spontaneous guests. As in this recipe, it is always advisable not to remove the peel of the apples, as they contain the most fibre. The apple also contains secondary plant substances that act as cell protectors.

If you bring enough time into the kitchen, you can also prepare the puff pastry yourself. Our recipe will tell you how to do this. At best, you use wholemeal flour in your dough - it contains more digestive fibres than conventional white flour.

Preparation steps

1.

Mix together maple syrup and thyme and let sit for 2-3 hours. Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Thaw puff pastry and cut into 3 equal pieces. Roll out on a floured surface into circles.

2.

Place first piece of pastry into a pan 20 cm (approximately 8 inch) diameter and create ridges on edge with a fork. Rinse apples, cut in half and remove seeds. Cut apple into slices, leaving peel on. Mix apples in a bowl with maple syrup and then spread in the pan. Lay second sheet of dough on and squeeze dough sheets together at edge.

3.

Cut third sheet into long strips 1.5 cm wide and 20 cm long (approximately 1/2 inch wide and 8 inches long) and create a lattice pattern across the top. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and serve while still warm.
