Peel the onion, dice finely and sauté in a pan in melted butter until translucent. Add tomatoes, including the juice. Crush the tomatoes with a potato masher and bring to a boil. Season with dried spices, salt, pepper, lemon juice and sugar.

Shape bratwurst meat into 12 small meatballs add to the soup and cook for about 8 minutes. Stir in the parsley at the end of cooking time. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with parsley leaves before serving.
