2 Steak (such as loin, each 180-200 grams)

Preparation steps

Peel the potatoes and cut into 1 cm (approximately 1/2 inch) cubes. Heat half of the olive oil in a nonstick pan and saute the potatoes for about 10 minutes until brown over medium heat. Peel the shallots and cut into wedges (eighths), add to the potatoes in the pan and continue to saute both until the potatoes only have a slight bite.

Season the meat with coarse pepper and saute in a second pan (or use a grill pan). Heat meat in the remaining oil and cook on both sides briefly for 2 minutes. Turn the heat off and let the meat sit in the covered pan to desired doneness (medium or well done). Season the meat with salt and serve with the potatoes and shallots on warmed plates.
