Preparation steps

1.

Rinse Brussels sprouts, cut a cross on stems and blanch in boiling salted water for 10-15 minutes. Drain, rinse with cold water, drain again and cut in half.

Peel onions and cut into narrow strips. Cut bacon into large pieces.

3.

In a hot pan with oil, cook Brussels sprouts in portions, occasionally swirling in pan. Add bacon, onion strips and thyme. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Serve on warmed plates and with a side of fresh white bread if desired.
