Preparation steps

1.

Rinse the potatoes, peel and chop into 2-3 cm (approximately 3/4-1 inch) cubes. Cook in boiling salted water until fork-tender, about 25 minutes.

2.

Peel the onions and chop finely. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and sweat the onions until translucent. Deglaze with the broth, stir in the tomato paste and marjoram, season with salt and pepper and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.

3.

Drain the potatoes, let the steam evaporate, press through a potato ricer into a bowl and stir in the hot milk. Season with salt and nutmeg.

4.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Grease a casserole dish with butter. Slice the sausage, add to the onion sauce and place in the prepared dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the sausage and onion mixture, sprinkle with cheese and bake until golden brown, around 40-45 minutes.
