Pepper-crusted Steaks with Mashed Potatoes
Scrub the potatoes and cook in boiling salted water until tender, about 30 minutes. Drain, peel and press through a ricer. Mix potatoes with hot milk and butter to a smooth puree.
Chop bacon finely and fry in a dry pan. Fold into the potato puree and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Rinse the steaks and pat dry. Crush peppercorns and rub over the steaks. Sear over medium-high heat in oil until done, 2-4 minutes on each side (depending on your preference). Season with salt. Arrange the steaks and potatoes on warmed plates and serve garnished with rosemary.
