500 grams sugar
1 l water
2 lemons (juice of)
250 milliliters dry Marsala wine (or substitute with dry sherry)
4 Tbsps golden raisin

Preparation steps

Peel the pears and leave the stems intact. Drizzle with lemon juice. Bring some water to boil with the sugar, sherry and lemon juice. When the mixture begins to boil, add the pears, and cook for about 15 minutes.

Carefully lift out the pears, drain, and add to a small bowl. Simmer the mixture over medium heat until reduced to a syrup, 5-10 minutes. Pour the syrup over the pears, and let cool. Garnish with the mint leaves.
