4 onions
1 green chili pepper
2 Tbsps lemon juice
80 grams Chickpea flour
½ tsp ground Cumin
1 pinch Chili powder
salt

Preparation steps

Peel, halve and thinly slice the onions. Rinse the chilli pepper, cut in half lengthwise, remove the ribs and seeds and finely chop. Add the onions and chilli pepper to a large bowl and mix with the lemon juice, chickpea flour, cumin, chilli powder, salt and pepper. Stir in enough cold water to form a thick, moldable batter.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan and drop the mixture by the spoonful into the oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Serve with chutney or dipping sauce of your choice.
