500 grams mixed Ground meat (beef and pork)
2 Tbsps parsley (finely chopped)
1 egg
4 Tbsps breadcrumbs
salt

For the tomato sauce
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
600 grams diced Tomatoes (canned)
2 tsps sugar
salt
peppers (freshly ground)
1 pinch Ground cinnamon
Basil

2 Tbsps parsley (chopped)

Preparation steps

Combine ground meat, egg, parsley and breadcrumbs. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. Shape into small 1-inch balls. Heat 3 tablespoons oil in a large skillet. Fry meatballs until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.

Peel onion and garlic and finely chop. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to a pot and sauté garlic and onion until softened. Add tomatoes and 50 ml (about 3 tablespoons) of water, bring to a boil and stir in sugar. Cover, reduce heat and simmer over low heat 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add cinnamon and 2-3 basil leaves. Place the meatballs in the sauce and cook until heated through, 3-4 minutes. Serve meatballs in small bowls and garnish with chopped parsley.
