4 Tbsps extra virgin olive oil
2 medium onions (peeled and chopped)
8 cloves garlic cloves (sliced thinly)
16 ozs ground Beef
2 cups canned, whole Tomatoes
2 cups canned, crushed Tomatoes
2 Tbsps fresh oregano
2 Tbsps fresh Basil (plus extra for garnish if desired)
1 tsp dry thyme
freshly ground Black pepper (to taste)
Parmesan (grated or shaved for garnish if desired)

Preparation steps

In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil on medium high heat. Add onions and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes or until onions are translucent.

Add ground beef, breaking apart with wooden spoon, and cook until browned. Add whole tomatoes, stirring and breaking into small pieces with the back of your spoon. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, thyme and ground pepper. Mix ingredients well. Cover skillet and turn heat down to simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, 8 to 9 minutes. Serve with meat sauce. Garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese, if desired.
