Preparation
Kitchen utensils
1 Small knife, 1 Cutting board, 1 Non-stick pan, 1 Measuring cups, 1 Slotted spatula, 1 Tablespoon, 1 Large knife, 1 kleine Skillet
Preparation steps
1.
In a bowl mix the flour with the salt and make a well in the middle. Mix the yeast with 200 ml/6 fl oz warm water and pour into the well. Add the olive oil and knead thoroughly into a smooth dough. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
2.
To make the filling, mix the almonds, sugar, aniseed/anise seed, cinnamon and rose water with the cream.
3.
Re-knead the dough on a floured surface and divide into plum-size pieces. With floured hands gently squash each piece flat and place some filling on top. Wrap the dough around the filling and shape into balls.
4.
In a pot bring some water to a boil. Lay a cotton tea towel in a colander and place the balls inside but make sure they are not touching. Steam on a medium heat for 15-20 minutes with a lid on.
5.
To serve, cut a small slit in each ball and place a rose petal in the slit.
