- 250 grams Lentils
- salt
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 red chili pepper
- 2 Tbsps olive oil
- 300 grams Chicken breasts
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 2 tsps ground cumin
- 2 bay leaves
- 400 grams diced Tomatoes (canned)
- 1 l Chicken broth
- peppers (freshly ground)
- 1 fresh Lime (for juice)
- Natural yogurt (for serving)

Preparation steps

Soak lentils overnight. Drain the next day and cook in salted water until al dente. Drain, rinse in cold water and drain again.

Peel onion and garlic, rinse chile pepper and remove seeds and ribs. Chop everything finely.

Heat olive oil in a wide saucepan and saute onion, garlic and chile pepper for 4-5 minutes on low heat. Rinse chicken, pat dry, cut into thin strips and saute with onion. When chicken is golden brown, add turmeric, cumin and bay leaves. Saute for about 1 minute. Add tomatoes, lentils and chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes on low heat. Season with salt and pepper. Drizzle with lime juice. Serve with with yogurt, if desired.
