Ingredients

For the pasta stars

For the pasta with homemade pesto

sun-dried tomatoes (soaked in hot water for 10 minutes)
2 tablespoons

garlic (chopped)
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
1 cup
star Pasta (or similar)

Preparation steps

For the pasta stars:

Heat the oil in a saucepan set over a medium heat. Add the garlic and saute for 30 seconds. Stir in the passata and cook until simmering. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 4 - 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Season to taste with a little salt and pepper. Cook the pasta stars in a large saucepan of unsalted boiling water for 6 - 8 minutes until tender. Drain well and stir into the tomato sauce. Serve warm.

For the pasta with homemade pesto:

Remove the sun-dried tomatoes from the soaking water (reserving it) and combine with the basil, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil, and two tablespoons of the soaking water in a food processor. Blend until smooth. Cook the pasta in a large saucepan of unsalted, boiling water for 6 - 8 minutes until tender. Drain well and toss with the pesto.
