Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C in a fan oven), 400°F, gas 6 and line a baking tray with grease-proof paper.
Beat the butter with the sugar, syrup and a pinch of salt until creamy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the coffee. Fold in the flour, bicarbonate of soda, almonds, a pinch of cloves and the cinnamon. Mix to a smooth consistency.
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a plain, medium nozzle and pipe rounds of 2-3 cm onto the baking sheet. Place a coffee bean in the middle of each one.
Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Carefully remove from the tray and cool thoroughly on a wire rack.
