Ingredients

1 ¼ cupsyellow Lentils rinsed
1 teaspoonsalt
2 tablespoonsbutter
1onions chopped
1carrots sliced
1 stickCelery chopped
2 clovesgarlic crushed
2 teaspoonsGaram Masala
1 teaspoonTurmeric powder
1 teaspoonChili powder
4Chicken breasts skinned and cut into bite size pieces
1 cupcanned tomatoes chopped
salt
freshly ground peppers

Kitchen Utensils

1 Pot, 1 Skillet, 1 Measuring cups, 1 Cutting board, 1 Large knife, 1 Small knife, 1 Tablespoon, 1 Wooden spoon, 1 Peeler, 1 Sieve, 1 Immersion blender

Directions

1 Put the lentils in a pan with 1 l of water and the salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 30 minutes until the lentils are tender and have absorbed most of the water.
2 Melt the butter in a large pan, add the onion, carrot, celery and garlic and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in the garam masala, turmeric and chilli powder to coat the vegetables then add the chicken and fry for 5 minutes.
3 Add the tomatoes and cooked lentils and a little more water if necessary. Cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes until the chicken is tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
4 Serve with spinach leaves and wholewheat noodles.
