175 grams butter
120 grams sugar
4 eggs
1 pinch salt
1 tsp Orange zest (organic)
1 tsp Baking powder
100 grams ground almonds
275 grams Pastry flour
100 milliliters milk
1 jar Sour cherry (Drained, 350 grams)
40 grams slivered almonds
powdered sugar (for dusting)

Preparation steps

Butter springform pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Whisk butter at room temperature until foamy. Add sugar and eggs, alternating. Season with salt and add orange zest. Combine baking soda with ground almonds and flour. Add to butter mixture, alternating with milk, to make smooth and spreadable batter. Spread batter in the pan and smooth. Drain cherries well and arrange on top of batter evenly.

Bake in preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 50 minutes (inserted toothpick should come out clean). During the last 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle with flaked almonds.

Remove cake from the oven, cool and loosen from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
