¾ cup brown sugar
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 ripe Banana
Oil (for the grill grate)
1 cup freshly whipped cream (or 450 ml vanilla ice cream)

Preparation steps

Set grill up for direct grilling and preheat to medium-high.

In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Simmer, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens (about 4 to 5 minutes). Remove from heat source, stir in vanilla extract and set aside.

Peel each banana and cut in half lengthwise. Brush the sliced bananas with the butter and brown sugar mixture. Oil the grill grate and arrange bananas cut side down, on the hot grate. Grill until caramelized, about 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully turn the bananas and grill until warmed through and caramelized. Baste frequently with brown sugar sauce during grilling process.

Transfer to a serving platter and serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with any remaining brown sugar sauce. Serve.
