Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 160°C (approximately 320°F). Grease a baking dish with the butter.

Peel the outer skin of the onion, and remove the ends. Press down on the onions so that they slightly spread apart. Place the onions into the baking dish then spread the garlic cloves around them. Season to taste with salt and pepper, then top with small pieces of butter.

3.

Sprinkle the onions with the thyme and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Baste from time to time with the butter.
