Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Mix together the butter with the sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Gradually add in the egg, then add the vanilla. Gently stir in the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Fold in the walnuts.

Use a teaspoon to place heaps of the dough onto the baking sheet, keeping about 5 cm (approximately 2 inches) of distance between the cookies and also between the cookies and the edge of the sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Remove from the baking sheet and let cool completely.
