1 tsp cream of tartar
½ tsp baking soda
1 pinch cayenne pepper
¼ cup butter
¾ cup grated, sharp Cheddar cheese
1 egg (beaten)
cup milk

Preparation

1 Cutting board, 1 Large knife, 1 Teaspoon, 1 Bowl, 1 Fork, 1 Citrus juicer

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the oven to 220°C (200° fan) 425°F gas 7. Grease a bking tray.
2.
Sift the flour, salt, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and cayenne into a mixing bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3.
Stir in the cheese, followed by the egg and enough milk to form a very soft dough.
4.
Turn out onto a floured surface and roll out to 2 cm|1 3/4" thick. Cut out rounds with a 3.5 cm|1 1/2" cutter.
5.
Put on the baking tray and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Serve hot, warm or cold.
