Preparation steps

1.

Toast oats in a pan with 50 grams (approximately 1/4 cup) sugar. Let cool.

Cream butter with egg and remaining sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in spices and oats. Mix flour with baking powder and sift over the butter mixture. Knead into a smooth dough.

Roll dough 4-5 mm (approximately 1/4-inch) thick and cut out star shapes. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with egg white and decorate with almond halves. Bake in preheated oven at 200°C (gas mark 3) (approximately 400°F) for about 20 minutes.
