Preparation steps

Heat 3 tbsp oil in a large pan and fry the onion. Add the tomatoes, garlic and 3 tbsp water. Cover and simmer on a medium heat for 3-4 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat and season with sugar, salt, ground black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Sprinkle the basil on top, cover and set aside.

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain (keep some of the water) and mix with 1 tbsp butter and 2 tbsp of the water.
4.
Arrange on plates and pour about 3-4 tbsp of the sauce on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan and serve immediately.
