1 lemon (juiced)
300 grams sugar
100 milliliters Rum

Preparation steps

1.

Rinse the pears, dry and peel irregularly, leaving the stem on the pears. Drizzle with the lemon juice.

Melt the sugar in a large pot to form a light brown caramel. Add 200 ml water (approximately 3/4 cup) and continue stirring.

Add the pears, remove from the heat and leave to stand for about 2 minutes. Strain through a sieve into another pot and place the fruit in jars. Add the rum to the caramel and simmer briefly. Pour over the pears. Close the jars securely and leave to cool.

3.

Suggestion: serve the pears with brie or morbier cheese.
