100 grams streaky, smoked Bacon
200 grams onions
4 Apple
2 Tbsps lemon juice
4 Tbsps butter
freshly ground peppers
4 slices Bacon

Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F).

For the filling: Cut bacon into small cubes. Peel and finely chop onions. Rinse apples and rub dry. Cut a lid off of each apple. With an apple corer, remove cores, leaving bottoms of apples intact. Enlarge opening slightly and sprinkle with lemon juice. Melt 1/2 tablespoon butter in a pan. Add bacon and onions. Cook, stirring, until onions are translucent. Season with pepper and stuff mixture into apples. Place lids on apples. Wrap each apple with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place apples in a buttered baking dish and top with 2 tablespoons butter (cut into pieces). Brush with remaining butter and bake about 25 minutes. Remove and transfer apples to plates.
