5 cups floury potatoes (diced)
2 Tbsps Oil
4 cups Minced Beef
1 onion (chopped)
1 carrot (finely diced)
1 ½ cups Celery (finely diced)
cup Beef stock
1 tsp tomato puree
salt
freshly ground peppers
¾ cup Cheddar cheese (grated)
0.333 cup hot milk
Nutmeg
butter (for the dish)

Preparation steps

1.
Cook the potatoes in a large saucepan of boiling, salted water for about 25 minutes.
2.
Heat the oil and brown the mince and vegetables. Add the tomato puree and stock and season with salt and pepper.
3.
Drain and mash the potatoes. Beat in the hot milk and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4.
Butter a baking dish and preheat the oven to 200°C (180° fan) | 400F | gas 6.
5.
Turn the mince mixture into the dish and spread the mashed potato on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown.
