- 4 cups whole-wheat bread flour
- Whole wheat flour (extra)
- 1 cup Walnut (finely chopped)
- 2 cups warm water
- ¼ cup Walnut oil
- 4 tsps active dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp salt

Preparation steps
1.
Sift together the flour, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the walnuts and stir well to combine.
2.
Sprinkle over the yeast, then pour in the warm water and oil.
3.
Bring together into a dough using your hands, then turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until you have a smooth, elastic dough.
4.
Cover with a damp tea towel and leave to prove in a warm place until doubled in size; usually 45-60 minutes.
5.
Knock the dough back and knead for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface.
6.
Shape the dough into an oval shape, then grease a large baking tray and place the dough on it. Cover with a damp tea towel and leave to prove again in a warm place for 30 minutes.
7.
Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan) | 375F | gas 5.
8.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until risen and hollow-sounding when tapped on its underside.
9.
Remove from the oven read and allow it to cool on a wire rack before serving.
