400 grams lean lamb stew meat
1 Tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
2 onions
½ tsp Turmeric
¼ tsp Chili powder
150 grams red Lentils
300 milliliters Chicken broth
3 cloves
1 pc fresh ginger (walnut-sized piece)
¼ tsp Garam Masala
1 green Bell pepper
Lime juice
salt
2 sprigs fresh cilantro

Preparation steps

1.

Cut lamb into 1 cm (approximately 1/2 inch) cubes.

2.

Heat oil in a high-sided, heavy (preferably cast iron) skillet or pot. Add lamb and cook, turning frequently, until browned. 

3.

Meanwhile, peel onions and cut into cubes. Add onions to the pan and fry until golden brown. Stir in turmeric and chili powder and sauté briefly.

4.

Add lentils and sauté briefly. Add chicken broth and cloves. Cover and simmer over low heat, about 25 minutes.

5.

Meanwhile, rinse, halve and finely dice bell pepper. Peel ginger.

6.

When lamb and lentils are tender, add diced bell pepper, finely grated ginger and garam masala. Mix well, bring to a boil briefly and continue simmering for a few minutes. Season with salt and lime juice and serve garnished with fresh cilantro.
