Preheat the grill. Rinse the tomatoes and remove the cores. Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water, then remove. Peel the skin from the tomatoes, cut into quarters, remove the seeds, and finely dice. peel and finely dice the garlic. Rinse the basil, dry with a paper towel, and chiffonade.

Mix the diced tomatoes, garlic, and the basil. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cut the baguette into 10 cm (approximately 4 inch) long pieces, and halve horizontally. Drizzle the cut surfaces of the baguette with olive oil. Grill the bread on the cut side over moderate heat for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown.
