Peel, trim and quarter the turnips (leaving some of the green stem intact).

Peel and chop the onion. Heat the butter and sugar in a pan, and caramelize the onions and turnips. Gradually incorporate the broth, and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the turnips are still al dente. Add the mustard and curry powder, then season to taste with the vinegar, salt, and pepper. Add the chives and marjoram leaves, and serve.
