- For the spread
- 200 grams starchy potatoes
- 300 grams Celery root
- 1 onion
- 2 Tbsps butter
- 2 Tbsps Quark
- 80 milliliters Whipped cream
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- Nutmeg (freshly grated)

Preparation steps
1.
Peel potatoes and celery root and dice finely. Simmer together in salted water for about 15 minutes.

Peel the onion and chop finely. Slowly sauté 2-3 minutes until translucent in melted butter. Remove from the heat and let cool.

Drain vegetables and let moisture evaporate. Set some aside. Mash the rest with the quark and cream into a fine spread. Fold in the diced vegetables and the onion and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4.
Cool to lukewarm or let cool completely and serve the spread on bread slices, sprinkled with walnuts.
