Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 220°C (approximately 430°F).

Peel and finely dice the garlic and the shallots. Rinse and halve the tomatoes. Cut in halve, remove the stalks and cores, and dice into 1 cm (approximately 1/2 inch) cubes. Mix the tomatoes with the shallots and garlic. Place the mixture in an ovenproof dish, drizzle with 3 tablespoons of oil, and season with salt. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool briefly. Slice the ciabatta, and drizzle with the remaining oil. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes, turning once, until crispy.

Rinse and dry the basil. Coarsely chop the basil and mix into the tomato mixture. Season to taste with salt and pepper, spread over the bread, and serve.
