250 grams Pastry flour
75 grams powdered sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tsp ground Anise seed
1 pinch ground cinnamon
150 grams cold butter (cubed)

Preparation steps

1.

Combine the flour, powdered sugar, salt, ground aniseed and cinnamon in a large bowl. Distribute the butter over the top and mix with a pastry cutter or two forks. Quickly knead with hands to form a smooth dough. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll the dough out onto a floured surface and cut into shapes using assorted cookie cutters. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden. 

4.

Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. Garnish with star anise pods.
