Wholemeal Waffles with Fruit and Syrup
For the waffles, beat the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Whisk the egg whites, seasoned with salt, until very stiff. Mix together the whole-wheat flour with baking powder and then alternate stirring it into the butter along with the yogurt.
Finally, fold in the egg whites. The batter should fall heavily from the spoon.
Bake in a hot waffle iron, greased with little fat.
Garnish with banana slices and berries to taste and serve drizzled with maple syrup.
