- ¾ cup Shortening
- ¼ cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp Lemon extract
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp salt

Preparation steps
1.
Beat shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and extracts in a large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed.. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting. In separate bowl, blend flour, baking powder and salt. Stir dry mix into shortening mixture until well blended. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Divide dough. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness on floured work surface. Cut into shapes with cookie cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until slightly brown. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.

Options: Decorate with sugar sprinkles before baking or icing and sugar sprinkles when cooled.
