Place all the ingredients for the chutney in a large saucepan. Bring to the boil over a medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved.
Simmer the mixture for 1 hour 15 minutes or until a trench drawn across the bottom of the pan with the spoon doesn't immediately fill up with liquid.
Spoon the chutney into sterilised jars. Seal them well and leave to cool at room temperature before serving.
