For the cake
150 grams butter (softened)
100 grams sugar
2 eggs
2 packets Vanilla sugar
160 grams Pastry flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 Orange (grated zest and juice)
Fat (for the pan)
breadcrumbs (for the pan)
For the sauce
6 tablespoons English Orange marmalade
¼ liter Sparkling wine
1 tablespoon Orange liqueur
1 pinch ginger
To serve

Preparation steps

1.

For the cake, grease a round cake pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs. Mix the flour with baking powder, vanilla sugar and beat into the batter. Beat in the orange zest and juice.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface. Bake in preheated 180°C (approximately 350°F) oven for 50 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

For the sauce, simmer all ingredients until heated through. Cool.

Serve cake with the sauce and garnish with a fig half.
