Meringue House
Ingredients
- For the meringue
- 4 egg whites
- 120 grams sugar
- 100 grams powdered sugar
- 15 grams cornstarch
- For the spray glaze
- 2 egg whites
- 50 grams sugar
- 200 grams powdered sugar
- Cocoa
- For decorating
- Sugar pretzel (as desired, for decorating)
- Smartie (as desired)

Preparation steps
For the meringue, in a bowl, mix egg whites and 100 grams (approximately 3 ounces) sugar until stiff and gradually add remaining sugar, powdered sugar and cornstarch.
With scissors, cut out house template pieces from corrugated cardboard, each house about 10-15 cm (approximately 4-6 inches) tall. Place roof pieces, floor pieces, side pieces and chimney piece on parchment paper and spread meringue over each. Place remaining meringue in a piping bag with a narrow tip and decorate house pieces. Sprinkle colored sugar over front and back sides of houses, and decorate chimney piece with sugar sprinkles. Sprinkle floor pieces and roof pieces with coarse sugar. Place houses pieces in preheated oven at 50°C (approximately 125°F) leave oven door open a crack and dry overnight. Remove pieces carefully from parchment paper.
For the spray glaze, mix powdered sugar, sugar and egg whites in a bowl until mixture is smooth and glossy. Remove 2 tablespoons and mix with cocoa powder until tinted brown and place in a piping bag. Place remaining spray glaze in a piping bag. Pipe white spray glaze along edges of house pieces and assemble. Decorate house and affix candy pieces onto house with spray glaze, as desired.
Roll out marzipan and cut out windows and doors and affix to house with spray glaze. Decorate windows with brown spray glaze and let dry.
